The Office for Foreign Relations and Information is an intelligence service of the Czech Republic. Its principal goal, effort and mission is to provide foreign intelligence vital for the security and protection of foreign policy interests and economic policy interests of the Czech Republic.

Control of Intelligence Services

Each country has its own way for controlling its intelligence services. Generally, intelligence services can be in fact and according to law controlled by:

  • the government (do the services do effectively what they are supposed to do?);
  • the parliament (do the services do what they are not supposed to do?);
  • courts;
  • courts of auditors;
  • the media and other informal factors.
