Mission

The Office for Foreign Relations and Information is an intelligence service of the Czech Republic. Its principal goal, effort and mission is to provide foreign intelligence vital for the security and protection of foreign policy interests and economic policy interests of the Czech Republic.

For Whom We Work

We work for the citizens of the Czech Republic. Intelligence we gather and assess serves to protect their security and interests.

We are tasked by Government and President through the Minister of the Interior. We refer the intelligence to President and Government through the Minister of the Interior, or in urgent cases directly with his knowledge. Other state bodies are provided with intelligence regarding issues that belongs to their scope of responsibilities.

We intensively cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The cooperation is based on useful meetings about resent issues of foreign relations and issues related to their development. The majority of our production is for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We have special relations with the Ministry of the Interior. The Minister of the Interior has overall responsibility for the activity of our service. He appoints and dismisses the Director of the service with Government consent. Our budget is a part of the budget of the Ministry of the Interior and certain departments of the Ministry execute for us part of logistic activities. Our officers are "police officers executing service in UZSI". Despite the above mentioned links we are not a structural part of the Ministry of the Interior. We are an independent state body, a structural unit of the state as stipulated in the law.
